julia doering, interior designer

Designing spaces that are both beautiful and empowering has been a lifelong passion. Julia’s journey began during the construction of her family's second home when, at just 10 years old, she discovered the transformative power of interior design.

After high school she went to Vancouver Island University for their Interior Design program, a 2-year diploma program at the time. Post graduation, in 2007, she moved to Victoria, BC to begin her career as an interior designer.

After 5 years working in the interior design industry, she explored new opportunities as a mortgage broker and manager in her parent's business, while continuing to fuel her passion for design through renovation projects and side ventures. These experiences deepened her skills in leadership and business innovation, ultimately inspiring her to establish Westvale Interiors— a firm where she brings together creativity, craftsmanship, and strategy to create timeless, quality spaces.

Julia believes that a stunning home is never an accident—it’s the result of thoughtful decisions, collaboration, commitment and attention to detail. Every home is as unique as the person who calls it home, and Julia’s goal is to help you define what “home” means to you.

Nature is a significant source of inspiration to Julia. From the subtle curves of wood grain to the intricate veins in stone, these natural elements bring warmth, texture, and enduring beauty. She believes the best interiors embrace the nuances of light and shadow, contrast and balance, to create spaces that delight.

Great design can’t be rushed. It requires patience, craftsmanship, and a willingness to look at challenges from different angles. Julia’s approach combines artistry with practicality—creating spaces that not only stand the test of time in style but also in durability and functionality.

Ultimately, Julia strives to design interiors that can be a place of refuge ora place to gather—a balance of subtlety and statement, where every detail contributes to a home that feels uniquely yours. It is her belief that our interior environment has a substantial impact on our wellbeing. Julia’s goal is to create spaces that restore and uplift all who enter them.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Julia at Westvale Interiors on a recent project and I couldn’t be more impressed. Her design vision was clear, and she communicated well throughout the process, making collaboration easy and enjoyable. As a cabinet maker, it’s always a pleasure to work with someone who understands the intricacies of custom design and ensures everything fits perfectly within the overall aesthetic. I highly recommend Westvale Interiors for anyone looking for a talented and professional interior designer.

I had the pleasure of reviewing Julia’s technical drawings for a custom reception desk design. I was impressed by the precision, clarity, and level of detail in her work. The drawings demonstrated a strong understanding of both design aesthetics and practical functionality, making the concept easy to visualize and execute. Julia’s ability to translate complex design ideas into well-structured, professional drawings sets her apart. I would gladly recommend her work to anyone seeking high-quality technical design services.
